These tunes were written away from the hammered dulcimer, and a few were even written with other instruments in mind.  But since the dulcimer is Peterson's main instrument, most are presented in dulcimer-friendly keys.

As for style, some were written specifically as Celtic tunes, but have a strong American strain running through a lot of the music, and other ethnic sounds have worked their way into the writing, with interesting, if not authentic, results.
