The Wild Oats
The Wild Oats have been playing a mutated brand of Celtic and original folk at San Diego area coffee houses, science fiction conventions, Renaissance Faires and Society for Creative Anachronism events since 1990. Influences on our style include: Silly Wizard, Steeleye Span, the John Renbourn Group, Boiled in Lead, and Jolly Beggar. The Oats have appeared regularly at the Timeless Fantasies Faire in Fallbrook, the Estrella War near Phoenix, Arizona and the twice-yearly Potrero War in eastern San Diego County (held by the SCA), Comic-Con International--where we've shared the stage with Windbourne, the Jubilatores, the Goliards, Icarus (now known as Messin' with Dragons), Lórien Patton, and Allison Lonsdale--the science-fiction based Con-Dor, and coffee houses Lestat's (formerly Java de Paradigm), JavaBar Garden Cafe, Liza's Cafe and Library, Twiggs Tea and Coffee, Thomas Paine's Coffeehouse, and Claire de Lune in the Normal Heights, University Heights and North Park areas of San Diego. Their set site may be found here.
